Printfection Quality Review

While many DTG sites aim themselves squarely at artists, Printfection‘s core are businesses and people who are comfortable with technology. Check out their Developer Central for more information on how to incorporate their abilities into your projects. You can also take advantage of their bulk discounts if you’re ordering many of a design at once.

Because the target audience is tech-savvy, the uploading process is more complicated than most sites- the structure will probably take some getting used to for people who have gone through other sites previously. First, you determine which products you’d like your design to appear on, and then you upload your image(s) on the next screen. Shirts can have both front and back prints.

I sent two files for printing at Printfection, one solid-colored illustration of a dinosaur skull and one full color photograph of leaves. Here’s what those files looked like on Printfection’s site when ordering:

It took about two weeks from when the order was placed to the package’s arrival:

While other sites send shirts in envelopes, Printfection stands apart by sending in boxes. It feels a bit higher-end. The box has no branding, which is nice for the businesses that use this company for their printing. It ensures that your company’s logo and data is all customers see.

There’s nothing in the box except the shirts, understandable because of their goal of keeping Printfection’s branding from being a part of the customer’s experience.

The dinosaur skull print is appropriately sized and well-printed, though maybe a little bit low on the shirt. Like a few other companies, they’ve chosen not to put an underbase beneath the black ink. This is good because it ensures that there’s no white bleed or border on the outside of the black. On the other hand, I’m not sure if that might make the black ink fade more easily over time.

The photographic print was nice as well- there’s a bit less yellow than the original, but a good range of color and still well within acceptable parameters. Not much sharpness, but it looks good.

SUMMARY
If you’re tech-savvy and willing to put in some work, Printfection can be a great shirt printing solution. They print quality tees in both photographic and vector categories, and keep their name out of the transaction so that your company can shine.
